A Star-Spangled Summer Celebration: Fourth of July at the Tides

Welcome to summer in the Chesapeake Bay region. With outdoor activities and experiences fit for the whole family, this season is the perfect time for a visit to the Tides Inn. To help you plan the perfect Independence Day getaway, we’ve put together the ideal itinerary to celebrate the Fourth of July.
Our weekend festivities kick off on Thursday at the beach with action-packed grill and barbecue stations, serving up savory brisket, ribs, chicken wings, an array of sides, salads and desserts from 6-9pm. Enjoy live music from Mercy Creek as our vintage bar cart appears serving your favorite summertime beverages such as our Lancaster Lemonade.
As the sun starts to set, join us for a golden hour oyster roast at our oyster reef, guided by ecologist, Will Smiley, from 7-9pm. Savor the taste of fresh seafood, beer and wine, all while learning about the vital keystone species of our local waterways.
For our younger guests, we have a special treat in store! Head over to the marina dock where our resident artist, Theresa, will be offering complimentary face painting. Watch as your little ones’ imaginations come to life as they transform into their favorite characters or creatures.
And the fun doesn’t stop there. Throughout the weekend, be sure to stop by Fish Hawk Oyster Bar for a feast of seafood classics and refreshing seasonal cocktails. Only a few steps away is our pool and beach, perfect for rest and relaxation. Spend the evening aboard one of our Duffy Boats for a Wine & Cheese Sunset Cruise along Carter’s Creek.
Looking to immerse yourself in the local community’s celebrations? Don’t miss the annual Fourth of July parade in our charming town of Irvington, complete with a vintage car show from 11am-12pm on Thursday. For a prime viewing spot, head to Irvington Commons near the Steamboat Era Museum.
On Saturday, July 6, continue the festivities with a visit to the Irvington Farmer’s Market in the morning from 7am-11pm, where you can enjoy live music while exploring local shops, art and produce.
