On May 9, the Tides Inn proudly welcomes back Cocktail Boat Racing with the inaugural Tidewater Cup, bringing racers, spectators, and shoreline cheers to Carter’s Creek for a day fueled by adrenaline and coastal camaraderie.
Expect roaring engines across the water, dockside cocktails and shoreline buzzing with energy. This isn’t just a race revival – it’s the return of a Virginia tradition, reimagined for a new generation of waterfront enthusiasts.

Kick off the festivities with an evening on the Croquet Lawn from 6-8pm as you meet the drivers and crews behind the Tidewater Cup. Enjoy live music, get an up-close look at a cocktail racing boat on display, and soak in the waterfront atmosphere. A cash bar will be available throughout the evening.

8 AM – 5 PM — Cocktail Boat Races on Carter’s Creek
Experience the thrill of the Tidewater Cup as cocktail racing boats speed along Carter’s Creek. Guests are invited to watch the action from our Shoreline Trail, offering prime waterfront views throughout the day.
6:30 PM — Tidewater Cup Award Ceremony at The Tides Inn Beach
Join us on the beach as we celebrate the day’s champions and honor the return of this beloved Chesapeake Bay tradition.
Evening — Dinner at Your Leisure at Fish Hawk
Conclude the day with a relaxed waterfront dinner at Fish Hawk, where fresh coastal flavors and sunset views provide the perfect finale to an unforgettable day on the water.
